A Covenant with Children

As Sunday School teachers and others who work with children at First Congregational Church, we endeavor to stay mindful of the following:

We believe that every child is holy and we try to acknowledge and appreciate the unique beauty and the unknowable potential of each child.

We recognize that the world presents many threats to the well-being of our children and we try to make sure our church will be a safe place. We will try to be attentive to the special needs of individual children and make sure that adequate support is provided for those children who are especially vulnerable.

We believe that it is our responsibility to nurture the development of core religious values and sentiments. We try to highlight these in our teaching and to give recognition and appreciation when they are expressed. These include:

Sunday Morning for Kids

Our Sunday School begins at 9:45 a.m. We provide nursery care for babies and toddlers, and we invite kids from Kindergarden - 6th grade to participate in Sunday Morning classes.

Our worship service includes a children's sermon. Following that sermon, children are welcome to stay in worship, or they will be accompanied downstairs (in the Fellowship Hall) for supervised activities. Parents or guardians can pick them up there after the worship service.
