Sanctuary Art...
We use the sanctuary as a way to visually express themes such as pilgrimage, journey, repentance and transformation. During Lent, for example, we created pathways across the floor using grains and beans. Drawing this path became a way of praying and focusing on our own life journeys. As an act of repentance, we collected and displayed 1200 pairs of shoes with photographs of Iraqi children, remembering that each week, this many children in Iraq die as a consequence of economic sanctions.
As we create art together, we learn to think and live in the Spririt of God who "makes all things new!"
