Shared Space Ministries and Partners...

The ministries of First Congregational involve people who have a vision for creating community. We have been blessed by a huge facility, and we believe that God has called us to share this space in ways that bring healing to our entire community.

The Pilgrim House Hostel and Retreat Center welcomes guests from around the world to Memphis' only hostel! We have affordable and beautiful private rooms, bunk rooms and semi-private rooms with showers and a lovely kitchen and resting areas. The Cooper-Young Conference Center is a fully-accessible Center with 2 large meeting rooms, AV/projection equipment, chairs, tables, a whiteboard and adjoining kitchen/café facilities. Our Global Goods Fair Trade store is an effort to support farmers and craftspeople from around the world by selling items in such a way that they receive a living wage. Our Loaves and Fishes Closet is open twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00-3:00 p.m.) to assist neighbors and folks from the community who need food and clothing assistance.

The Revolutions Bicycle Cooperative opened its doors in 2002 with a mission to serve our community by saving the world, one bicycle at a time. Our sanctuary is a performance venue for The Eroica Ensemble, The Wolf River Orchestra, the Memphis Men's Chorale, the Memphis Symphony and the Memphis Youth Symphony, Ballet Memphis, the Luna Nova Ensemble and may more performance arts groups in Memphis.

All told, we share our space with 29 other organizations, all of whom have a calling to bring people together in an environment of healing, justice and reconciliation. We are midwives, language specialists, counselors, filmmakers, bicyclists, refugees, environmental activists, nutritional therapists, childcare workers....and we share space at 1000 South Cooper because we believe that community matters--and that our work is done better in shared space than on our own.
