Shared Space Ministries

The ministries of First Congregational involve people who have a vision for creating community. We have been blessed by a huge facility, and we believe that God has called us to share this space in ways that bring healing to our entire community.

The congregation operates some ministries and programs on its own. We've also developed partnerships with folks who wanted to work with First Congregational in several special collaborative ventures.

The Pilgrim House Hostel and Retreat Center welcomes guests from around the world to Memphis' only hostel! We have affordable and beautiful private rooms, bunk rooms and semi-private rooms with sowers and a lovely kitchen and resting areas. Our Conference Center consists of a variety of meeting rooms with adjoining kitchen/café facilities. It's available for meetings and offers a warm, inspiring environment for gatherings and retreats. You can find out more by going to www.pilgrimhouse.org or contacting manager Tom Wallace at 273-8341

The Global Goods store supports justice efforts around the world by selling "fair trade" coffee, chocolate, clothes, crafts and gifts. We're open on Saturdays from 10 - 6:00 p.m. and Sunday mornings before and after worship services.

Our Loaves and Fishes Closet is open twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m.) to assist neighbors and folks from the community who need food and clothing assistance.

The Revolutions Bicycle Cooperative offers members an affordable, supportive environment to repair and recycle bicycles. Our volunteers provide bicycles to schoolchildren, as we?re able, and we have a special outreach to low-income and homeless folks who need transportation. You can contact Revolutions directly by calling (901)949-1201 or emailing revolutionsbikeshop@gmail.com. The shop is open Sunday from 2 - 5:00 p.m. and Thursdays from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.

The Pilgrim Counseling Center for Living and Learning offers professional counseling services. You can call them at 844-4357 for more information about services offered.

All told, we share our space with 29 other organizations, all of whom have a calling to bring people together in an environment of healing, justice and reconciliation. We are midwives, language specialists, counselors, filmmakers, bicyclists, refugees, environmental activists, nutritional therapists, childcare workers....and we share space at 1000 South Cooper because we believe that community matters--and that our work is done better in shared space than on our own.
