Children , Youth & Families
Children and youth are a vital part of life at First Congo. We offer age-appropriate programs that help young people build community, learn, serve, and grow in a welcoming and affirming environment. Whether your child is an infant, elementary-aged, or a teenager, we are committed to helping them feel safe, valued, and connected as they explore what it means to live out First Congo’s pillars of inclusion, justice, peace, and worship.
Nursery
Our nursery is available for children from infancy through age 4 and is staffed by trained caregivers who provide a safe, welcoming environment during worship. The nursery is located off the Larkin Room, just behind the sanctuary through the wooden doors on either side of the stage. We ask that all children be checked in by a parent or guardian upon arrival. If you have a first time child please register them below.
Kids Church
Children in grades K-6th are invited to join Kids Church each Sunday in the Larkin Room. This is led by our long time Kid’s Church Leader, Marsha Walton. Here they participate in a variety of activities designed to encourage the spiritual capacities we celebrate. There will be singing, quiet breathing, story-sharing, Bible stories, art, dancing and drumming. On the first Sunday of each month, the kids have yoga practice. On the last Sunday is an art project. We ask that all children be checked in by a parent or guardian upon arrival. If you have a first time child please register them below.
Kid’s Church Bulletin
Pamela McFarland, who designs the bulletins for the adult worship service, makes an order or worship for the children each week. Sign up for the weekly newsletter to see the upcoming bulletin. Make sure to bring your child’s bulletin home with you, there is always a question the children are encouraged to discuss with their grown-ups.
Youth Group
Youth Group is for all middle and high school students and meets every other Sunday immediately following worship till 1:30 pm. We gather in the youth room, located off the Fellowship Hall on the floor below the sanctuary. Each meeting includes lunch, games, activities, and meaningful conversations centered around First Congo’s four pillars: Nurture Diverse & Inclusive Community, Affirm & Celebrate LGBTQ+ Spiritual Seekers, Work & Advocate for Justice, Worship God with Creativity and Curiosity. Whether you’re new to the church or have been here for years, Youth Group is a place to build friendships, have fun, and grow together in a welcoming and supportive community. If you have a first time child please register them below.
