It Doesn’t Make Sense, and It’s Not Supposed To | May 24, 2026
There are Christians who hold venomous snakes as a way to prove their piety. There are some who tattoo crosses onto the hands of children as a way to mark their faith. There are Christians all over the world and throughout history who have done things that, to others, really don’t seem to make a lick of sense. This Sunday we gather to think together about how the Jesus movement calls us to do things that, to others, seem strange. We won’t, though, be thinking about snakes. We’ll be thinking about strange, weird, and non-sensical things like forgiveness. Things like loving enemies. Things that, while strange, could be keys to a whole other kind of liberation that, in and of itself, doesn’t really make sense.
