Hold on to Your History | January 18, 2025
"Forget about the past; focus on the future."
"Don't let yesterday take up too much of today."
"Let go of what was to grab hold of what is."
These are just a few of the mantras of our moment. In a society that so often fixates on instant gratification, in a country where history is one more front in a neverending "culture war," it can be easy to push away the past as something that traps, burdens, or shames us. However, could it be that the past - our personal history, our national history, even our religious history - might hold keys to unlocking a more liberated future? Join us this Sunday before Martin Luther King Jr. Day as we consider how holding our history might offer deep ways to care for our souls.
